Working with older adults is one of the most rewarding parts of my acupuncture practice. Many of my patients are in their 60s to 80s, and over the years I’ve seen how much this medicine can offer — not just in easing pain, but in helping people feel more balanced and connected.
Every person who comes through my door brings a unique story, health history, and way of life. That’s why I don’t just focus on symptoms — I look at the whole person. We take time to talk about sleep, digestion, emotions, daily habits, and stress levels, because all of these things shape how we feel. Acupuncture is just one part of the process. Together, we work on small but meaningful lifestyle shifts that can make day-to-day life more comfortable and joyful.
Gentle, Supportive Treatment
Energy naturally changes as we age — we may feel we have less stamina or notice slower healing. My treatments focus on gently supporting energy, circulation, and organ function while also releasing pain and tension. It’s about helping the body work with what it has, so you can feel more comfortable and at ease.
Looking at the Whole Person
Many of my older patients take multiple medications, which can sometimes contribute to side effects or nutrient depletion. I help patients become aware of what to watch for and suggest questions they can bring to their doctor or pharmacist. Often, patients are unaware that long-term use of certain medications may impact nutrient levels. I provide guidance on identifying potential deficiencies and discuss ways to support overall energy, digestion, and balance—always encouraging consultation with their healthcare providers before making any changes.
Nutrition & Exercising
Lifestyle greatly affects how we age, so I share simple tips to help patients feel their best—like adding hydrating foods, enjoying anti-inflammatory meals, or trying gentle exercise. I also provide a handout on Sotai exercises, a Japanese method of natural, coordinated movements that restore alignment, reduce tension, and improve function. You’re never too old to start exercising!
Creating a Calm, Safe Space
Acupuncture is about more than needles — it’s a time to pause, breathe, and receive gentle care. Many of my patients tell me their sessions are the most peaceful part of their week. Even small improvements — like less pain, better sleep, or an easier time walking — can make a huge difference in quality of life.
Taking Our Time
Appointments are never rushed. I leave extra time in the schedule so we can talk, answer questions, and adjust treatments as needed. My goal is for you to feel fully heard and cared for.
Affordability
Seniors receive a special discount, and I participate in the VA Community Care Network. I can also provide the paperwork your Medicare or insurance provider needs for reimbursement—just ask your provider about acupuncture coverage!
Aging can bring challenges, but it can also be a time of wisdom, reflection, and deep connection. My goal is to support older adults, so they can enjoy this chapter of life with less pain, more ease, and a greater sense of vitality.
If you or a loved one could benefit from this kind of gentle, whole-person care, I’d love to welcome you to my clinic!
